Education, Political Action to Bolster VA Criminal Justice System

CVUV uses voter education and political action to enhance public safety, promote effective crime-reduction measures and strengthen the rights of crime victims.

We endorse state and local candidates who share our goal of creating positive change on behalf of crime victims both legislatively and within the criminal justice system. CVUV is the first bi-partisan, pro-law enforcement political action committee of its kind.

Karl Mansoor
Retired Police Officer Fights for Balance in Criminal Justice System

Karl Mansoor is a retired Albemarle County police officer who continues to serve the public interest as an advocate for victim’s rights within Virginia’s criminal justice system.

He began his career in 1991, with the City of Norfolk Police Department. Then, while serving as a uniformed patrol officer in Albemarle, Mansoor instructed other police officers in various skills and conducted background investigations for prospective police officers.

During that time, Mansoor served as a Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (VA DCJS) Certified Law Enforcement Instructor specializing in defensive tactics and firearms. He retired as a Master Police Officer and remains certified with the VA DCJS to instruct private security courses and various law enforcement topics. Mansoor has served as an expert witness in police use of force issues.

Roger Mathias is a retired Albemarle County Master Police Officer with 22 years of law enforcement experience. As owner/director of Security Associates Safety Services, a crime prevention and training company, Mathias is registered with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (VA DCJS) as a Private Security Services Compliance Agent. In that capacity, he ensures that security personnel receive required VA DCJS mandated training.

Mathias is a past president of the Albemarle Law Enforcement Association and current member of the National Association of Chiefs of Police and Security Directors and the Fraternal Order of Police. While a police officer in Albemarle County, Mathias developed the Financial Administrators Safety Training Program – a program that familiarized bank personnel with certain law enforcement procedures, allowing for more effective police response in the event of criminal activity. During 1999 and 2000, while funding was available, Mathias also developed and implemented the School Watch pilot program for students in Albemarle County Schools.
